Sistemazione idrica Sesia Ghislarengo

Cantilevered enlargement and rising of the platforms, tactile paths and service lifts, historical features restored (Parapets and handrails), steel-Glass mix used

The intervention involved the construction of gigantic boulder cliffs to protect the piles of the railway bridge located in the south-east area of Ghislarengo; therefore, from the work analysis it was ascertained that the foundations of the piles were visibly exposed due to the vigorous streams of the river.

Two cuts with cyclopean boulders were designed to reduce the filtering action- upstream and downstream of the intervention – with a direction perpendicular to the flow of the river stream.

We design interventions for the reconstruction of the foundation berm by laying boulders joined to the existing abutment near the bridge abutments. Our goal was to stabilise the foot of the present slope.

The interventions were completed with the design of a cliff to protect the railway embankment on the left bank.
